The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has signed a new strategic partnership agreement with a number of institutions and organisations in the United Arab Emirates. It signed a partnership agreement with «Etisalat» and «Du» at the Abu Dhabi headquarters, in the presence of representatives of both companies. The agreement is part of THE TRA`s action plan to achieve the UAE`s National Vision 2021 goals to increase the country`s ranking among the top 10 countries in the National Readiness Index (NRI) in the World Information Technology Report. Dubai: Etisalat telecommunications operators have announced that they will partner with Dubai Properties to provide intelligent ict infrastructure for its next real projects. This is part of more than 50 projects under the Taawun Agreement, a joint operator initiative – of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, to support the government`s vision for the development of smart telecommunications infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. The agreement is expected to benefit more than 100,000 people who, by 2022, live and work in the nearly 20,000 units of Dubai Properties. It will offer customers, both in the private sector and in the company, the opportunity to choose the telecommunications service provider of their choice. Through the use of an end-to-end fibre-optic telecommunications network (FTTH), enhanced 3G/4G and LTE mobile coverage, improved Internet services and infrastructure, and other communication upgrades in a number of projects in Dubai, the Taawun agreement helps UAE residents and businesses experience smart city services during their development. With Taawun`s infrastructure, Dubai Properties intends to equip several projects over the next five years: the Mudon Arabella, Villanova and Serena communities, The Villa Development, Liwan and Culture Village. It will also improve the competitive landscape in the Uae, allowing residents and businesses to choose – and change – between service providers of their choice. It aims to contribute to the UAE Vision 2021 to place the nation among the top ten in the world in the overall ict infrastructure, the Online Services Index and the Network Reading Index, in time for the UAE`s 50th anniversary celebrations. It is also part of the UAE government`s «Smart City» initiative, which enables the country to become one of the most connected and sustainable nations in the world, with Dubai World Expo 2020 becoming the platform for unveiling this vision.
